Junior Change Makers- Cyber Bullying Campaign

May 29, 2024

Recognizing the growing prevalence and associated effects of the use of technology and social media, the Junior Change Makers from Grade 6 campaigned to promote digital citizenship, and combat cyberbullying in the Junior School, during the week 13 to 17 May, 2024, thus fostering a safer online environment for their peers.

These young advocates of change held interactive sessions and presentations for the learners in Grades KG-5, educating them about the various forms of cyberbullying and equipping them with the skills and strategies needed to protect themselves and their peers online.  Central to the campaign was the promotion of empathy and kindness as essential values in fostering positive online interactions and combating cyberbullying. Learners were  encouraged to think critically about the impact of their words and actions online, and to consider how they can contribute to a more positive and inclusive digital community. Additionally the campaign emphasized the importance of peer support in standing up against cyberbullying. Learners were also encouraged to speak out against online harassment, offer support to those who are targeted, and report incidents of cyberbullying to trusted adults.

Through education and awareness, the JCM are paving the way for a safer and more inclusive digital future and also building empathy, respect, confidence, courage and responsibility in the school community.
