Strawberry Fields High School C.O.D.E. Hack ’22

Strawberry Fields High School C.O.D.E. Hack 3.0, a national-level virtual hackathon was organised by the Senior Organisers, Arshnoor Bhutani and Kashika Mahajan of Class 12 along with the Junior Organisers, Mehak Mehra and Soham Modi of Class 12, Anvita Aggarwal of Class 11 and Ishitta Groverr of IBDP Year 1. This inter-school competition saw diverse participation from all over the country with over 300 participants from classes 5-12 taking part in it.

This intellectually-stimulating competition lasted 3 days and 2 nights, wherein students challenged themselves to deliver unique solutions to everyday problems within the given time frame. The main theme for this year’s event for High School was ‘Helping Various Sectors of the Society’ which encompassed equally riveting sub-themes – Economic Equality, Self-Efficiency and Transportation. The theme for all Middle School events was ‘A Voyage Through Space’ wherein young minds unleashed their creativity to rethink space by developing animation and stop-motion animation, and poster-making.

The participants got the chance to test their financial abilities in ‘Masters of the Market’. They came head-to-head in their knowledge of chess in ‘Chess Wizards’ and put their coding skills to test in ‘Speed Coding’. The creativity and photo-editing skills of the participants were seen in ‘Fix and Frame’. ‘Stranger Questions’ witnessed the fans of the popular science-fiction drama series, Stranger Things, indulge in two rounds of back-to-back trivia questions.

The first day started with an inspiring address by Mr Pankaj Rai, Group Chief Data and Analytics Officer at the Aditya Birla Group followed by the organisers’ speeches. The midnight event, Masters of the Market, was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants. The next day was filled with side-events from Speed Coding to Stranger Questions.

‘Masters of the Market’ was won by Lagan Narula of The British Co-Ed High School. ‘Chess Wizards’ was won by Rhythm Singhal of Indus International School. Akshat Singhania of Jayshree Periwal International School secured the first position in ‘Speed Coding’, and ‘Fix and Frame’ was won by Prisha Sureka of Pathways World School. Lastly, Vibhas Kumar of Jodhamal Public School came first in ‘Stranger Questions’.

The preliminary pitches of the High School main event were judged by students of reputed universities around the globe – Arhaan Aggarwal, Dhruv Bhardwaj, Asav Kumar and Chaitanya Gupta. The final round of the main event was judged by Mr Sundeep Sahi. Mr Sundeep Sahi has an experience of over 20 years in the industry with executive roles in product, analytics, and technology across startups and enterprises. He co-founded Indifi, worked at Microsoft and headed Wynk product.

The event, Fix and Frame for High School was judged by Savya Gulati.

The runners-up for Innovation Challenge were Aadit Bansal, Aaditya Sharma and Sachit Sapra from Strawberry Fields High School and the winners were Ramya Puri and Ripandeep Kaur of Hopetown Girls’ School.

The middle school preliminary round of ‘Animation Challenge’ was judged by Muskaan Saxena, Guneet Kaur and Rehmat Swani. ‘Set. Click. Action!’, a stop-motion animation development event was judged by Sanya Singal and the poster-making event was adjudged by Raeka Sharma. All of them are pursuing their studies in their respective fields of interest at prestigious colleges and universities across the world. The final round was judged by Mr Vivek Paul who studied at Punjab University, The London School of Journalism, Stanford University and Berklee College of Music.

For poster-making, the runner-up was Arjun Bedi of Strawberry Fields High School and the winner was Joshna Jeslin of Sharanya Narayani International School. In ‘Set. Click. Action!’ Manya Mahajan of Strawberry Fields High School secured second place and Anurag Sur of Akshara International School, Wakad, Pune, came first. High commendation was awarded to Manvik Goyal, of Strawberry Fields High School. Lastly, Aman of Strawberry Fields High School came second in ‘Animation Challenge’ and Advit Agarwal of Strawberry Fields High School secured the first position.

The event concluded with Mr Abhishek Gupta, Vice President of IT at Dish TV sharing his expert views on Metaverse and Deepfake. The winners were also felicitated by Mr Gupta. The stimulating three days of ideation, innovation and creation came to an end with a vote of thanks to the organising committee, teachers and all those who made this event a success.
