DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP WEEK 2022 – WINNERS LIST

November 4, 2022

In the current era of the ever reinventing  standards  of technology, we need to comprehend and adhere to the many requirements of being a responsible ‘Digital Citizen’. The term “digital citizenship” describes how anyone using  a digital platform should use technology responsibly  while  interacting with others in society. Strawberry Fields High School recognises the need of the hour and aims to create  responsible  young digital citizens.

Digital citizenship week is very dear to our hearts. For the entirety of this week, the organisers of the event, worked as hard as they could to plan, curate and convene all five events. Digital Citizenship Week 2022 was celebrated from 17th October to 21st October. All the competitions held as part of the celebrations, were a joint effort by the Information Technology, Art, and Music Departments. These events included different ranges of skills, like artwork, writing, musical skills and public speaking.

The events were: Extempore, Rap-it!, Snip-a-Clip!, Tech-Trivia, and Digital DaVinci. These events presented our participants with a challenge to not only be creative but also logical; they were a test of their creativity coupled with logical thinking skills when under pressure.

The Organisers of DC Week wanted the students of our school to learn how to stay safe and behave responsibly when on a digital platform. In this modern era, we are very dependent on technology. However, it is of the utmost importance to impart knowledge to students in developing the skills they need to use devices safely, ethically, and effectively.

During DC Week, many high school students participated in the events organised. The students participated in as many events as they wanted to. The events helped test their creative  and artistic skills along with their on-the-spot thinking and speaking skills. The competitions enabled the students to learn  about digital citizenship while they had fun participating in the said events.

As part of the celebration, Tuesday, 18th October 2022, was observed as Black/Neon Day, when the students came to school in black/neon attire to support Digital Citizenship Week. It was admirable to see the students and faculty dressed in black and neon to spread awareness about being a responsible digital citizen. Students actively participated in offline events, i.e. Tech- Trivia, Rap-It!, and Extempore.

With over 30 teams comprising two members each, the Tech- Trivia quizzing event was a great success. The teams competed against each other with their knowledge of the ethical use of the digital world.

Rap-It! was one of the most enjoyed events, where the stage came alive with self-written rap performances by the participants. The event’s theme was, ‘Digital Drama and Hate Speech.’ Next on the list was Extempore, an offline public speaking event where each participant had to speak on the topic chosen by them through a draw of chits. The enthusiasm of the participants and the audience made these events a huge success.

To conclude, students of classes 9 and 10 performed a hilarious skit. This skit aimed to guide and enable children to make ethical and responsible decisions in online spaces when using  their digital devices. It gave messages such as not  clicking  on unknown links, and not believing everything on the internet.

The events and competitions covered various skill sets and topics and were made specifically to cater to the interests of the students. The Digital Citizenship Week was organised by Ananya Kapoor (10 C), Arnav Paul (10 A), Bhavin Dewan (10 C), Hrishikesh Thirumalai (10 D), and Namish Kaura (10 D). The experience has been demanding, but enriching, fun and full of joy and camaraderie.

The end of the week brought in a vast collection of participants’ entries of posters, video clips, etc. Every single entry and performance carried a unique charm along. Besides, displaying the dedication, passion and hard work that was put in
