November 24, 2021

Theory of Knowledge offers life-changing experiences during the teaching and learning process. The conference brings together students and educators to freely share their thoughts and perspectives. In collaboration within the IBDP community of facilitators, resource persons and students, the Global TOK Conference was organized on 19th and 20th November, by Indus International School Pune (IISP). The conference commenced with the Opening Ceremony on 19th November, led by a motivational speech by General Arjun Ray, PVSM, VSM (Retd.), CEO Indus Group of Schools. He focused on the meaning and relevance of TOK in real life and the world around us.

The workshop sessions were divided into four different themes; “A Stitch in Time”, “Dubious Differences”, “Liquid Bagel” and “You Know, You Don’t”. Students were divided into four groups to discuss these topics through areas of knowledge, themes and concepts. Students collaboratively created Knowledge Map presentations through meaningful discussions and presented them on the last day during the plenary session. The program concluded with a mesmerising dance performance by a student and vote of thanks by the TOK Coordinator from IISP. SFHS students, interacting with peers from 13 other schools like Aditya Birla World Academy and GEMS Modern Academy, were exposed to new thoughts and ideas and strengthened their appreciation for TOK in helping them make sense of the world around them. They learned that TOK plays an essential role in our daily lives and were able to understand why the IB values the subject immensely as a core component.
