International Day of Persons with Disabilities Campaign by Grades 9 and 11

December 24, 2021

The Social Sciences Department at High School conducted a sensitization drive on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

As part of this drive, an inter-section soft board competition was organised, wherein each section of Classes 9 &11 created a display to showcase the assigned themes which are as follows:

Class 9: Accessibility to physical environment for persons with disabilities

Class 11: Educational and social inclusion of persons with disabilities.

The winners were selected by the judges on the basis of creativity, the relevance of content, and an explanation of their display. The winning sections were Class 11 C and Class 9 B. As a culmination of the campaign, the best elements from each display were combined and put up for a showcase for the entire school.
