August 7, 2019 Students bring accolades to SFHS at SATYAN INNOVATION FEST, 2019 Recently, the students participated in the SATYAN INNOVATION FEST, 2019 held at Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana and presented their entrepreneurial idea. BIOFUEL, MAKING FUEL OUT OF BIOWASTE. Ibaadat Bains, Kaveri Sharma , Nihal Singh and Yashvika Ahuja competed against 24 teams from all over India and were selected among top 5. They finally went on to win the award for the Best Crisis Management team.
The event which included a four stage process where the students first pitched their idea and managed to obtain 18% equity financing and then presented their product and marketing strategy. Last, was the crisis management session where they showcased a sterling performance . It was an excellent learning opportunity in business management , leadership, communication and team work.

Read More August 5, 2019 SFHS Faculty Brings Laurels Ms Deepshikha Pargal, Kindergarten educator, was today awarded the tGELF Education Prize 2019 in a glittering event at New Delhi. The Global Education & Leadership Foundation launched The Education Prize in 2013 to recognize the teaching methodologies used by teachers in their classrooms and to encourage creativity and learning in their students. This year the theme was “Creative Classrooms.” Through this award tGELF endeavours to recognize the outstanding teachers who have changed the ethos in their classrooms and have had a transformational impact on their students.
The Education Prize includes a cash award and a citation for each of the categories with the additional benefits of publication of a compilation of best ideas.
We are indeed proud and heartened to see Deepshikha achieve this sterling performance and commend her for the effort that she puts into her class each day.
Read More August 5, 2019 Shehnai Recital in the Newton Hall at SFHS The Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Arts and Culture Among Youth (SPIC MACAY) and the Durga Das Foundation organised a Shehnai recital for students of Strawberry Fields High School in the Newton Hall, on Monday.
Recipients of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Ustad Bismillah Khan “Yuva Puraskar” for 2010-2011 in the Hindustani Music Instrumental category, and the Aditya Vikram Birla Puraskar in 2015, Ashwini and Sanjeev Shankar hail from a 300 year old illustrious lineage of shehnai players of the Benaras Gharana. They were supported by Shri Anand Shankar on table. The stirring performance was thoroughly enjoyed by the young music aficionados of the high school who have an enviable exposure to classical music through regular scheduling of such events as part of the curriculum.
The artists admired the musical literacy of the audience as they answered some questions at the end of the hour-long recital, shedding light upon the choice of ragas played during different occasions especially the traditional use of the shehnai during Indian weddings. Responding to other questions posed by the students, Shri Sanjeev Shankar explained the structural differences and similarities between the oboe and the shehnai and also shared that when the siblings were initiated into the art of playing the instrument they would often rehearse for nearly twelve hours a day, emphasising the fact that hard work is necessary for success in any vocation.
Read More August 3, 2019 Varsha Ritu Sangeet Sammelan The welcome pitter-patter of the rain was made more melodious by the soulful rendition of Raag Malhar in its various forms during a musical performance in the Newton Hall at Strawberry Fields High School. Legend says that this raag has the power to bring down the rains in the area where it is sung.
The Varsha Ritu Sangeet Sammelan, presented by the Indian National Theatre in association with the Durga Das Foundation, featured two acclaimed vocalists, Dr. Aditya Sharma of the Gwalior gharana followed by Smt. Jui Dhaygude-Pande of the Jaipur Atroli gharana. They were accompanied on harmonium by Shri Vinay Sharma and on tabla by Shri Avirbhuj and Shri Mehmood, all of who are seasoned artists in their own right.
The artists were appreciated for their masterful renditions, variety of taan patterns, and perfect balance between the structural beauty of the raag and its emotional content, and were felicitated by General V.P. Malik, former Chief of Army Staff and Trustee of the Foundation, and by Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, former Dean, Faculty of Arts & Culture Professor and Head of the Department of Music Punjabi University, Patiala.
