July 2, 2022 ‘Enkrypt’ Winners

The students from our school brought home laurels, as they helped Strawberry Fields High School achieve the 1st Position in the Inter-school IT Competition, ‘Enkrypt’, hosted by St. Stephens School to commemorate the Ruby Jubilee Anniversary of the school. 

 

With more than 12 schools participating in the events, our students displayed sheer grit, determination, spontaneity, and intelligence. The competition tested the students in a unique way, forcing them to think quickly on their feet and come up with solutions to the given tasks.

 

In the Junior category, Aarav Gupta (6D) and Ria Jain (6D), came first in the IT Quiz. They were spontaneous, uninhibited, and confident as they went through many rounds of intimidating questioning, in the same category Advit Agrawal (6D) and Yashvir Singh Dhillon (6D) ended up as the second runners-up in the PPT Making competition. The theme given to them was “Quality Education”, for which they had to create a Power Point Presentation. They delivered their presentation in front of the audience, meticulously explaining each slide and confidently answering the questions put forward by the judges.

 

In the Senior Category, Advay Bajaj (10C) and Rehaan Goyal (10C) bagged 1st position across all schools in the Programming Event. This event tested their knowledge of the Java Programming language, specifically the single-dimensional arrays, strings, and patterns aspects of it. They were made to write the code for three separate programs, which they managed to complete well within time, hence successfully winning the competition. Their consistent hard work certainly paid off by winning the overall Trophy.

July 2, 2022 Stand Up Comedy by High School Students "To celebrate World Laughter day, comedy enthusiasts from grades 9, 10 and 12 put together an event called “School, Study and Stand up”. The show kicked off with a skit about the Merchant of Venice being recreated in modern times featuring Osheen Singh, Kushal Vir Singh, Rishi Singh Panwar, Darsh Singh Lobana and Annika Singh.The audience's enthusiasm saw an uplift with Aarav Gupta from grade 9 narrating hilarious incidents about coming back to school after the pandemic. The burgeoning euphoria peaked with grade 10's Zorawar Singh's act about his family that left the audience in splits. Vikrant Balasaria from grade 12 followed this with a creative act full of memes and references to his native land, West Bengal.Hardik Sharma from grade 12 and Nischay Rao from grade 10 ended the show with their highly creative and spell binding act on the oft dreaded subject of mathematics and more." May 28, 2022 The Language Café The Language Café, an inter house event, was successfully organised by the IBDP team along with High school language educators and house in charges, on 10 May, 2022 at SFHS Chandigarh. The event comprises three main competitions; creating advertisements and cartoons to represent the global issues and the classic fairy tale with a modern twist for the current audience. Students from the four houses; Aether, EL MAA, Agni and Terra fascinated the audience with their rivetted presentations and performances through diverse creative ideas.Event 1 was based on the cartoon strip to represent a global issue, where students communicated their perspectives on important social issues existing in society. In event 2, students created an advertisement to represent any global issue of their choice and event 3 was focused on creating a modified version of a classic fairy tale with a surprising twist, by making slight changes in characters and plot. The houses were provided with a couple of classical cartoon strips such as Garfield, Snoopy, Batman and Wonder Woman and were instructed to convey their different perspectives on global issue using creativity.The students effectively delivered their messages through the comic strips. Some of the significant issues discussed were; Wonder Woman defies all social norms and strengthens the fight against menstrual stigma, the issue of social anxiety with a modern twist in characters and viewpoint and the issue of world hunger.All the performances were breathtakingly inspiring and full of creativity. In event 1, the cartoon scripts, the first position bagged by Agni house, followed by El Maa house in second and Terra at third position. In the second event, creating advertisements to present global issues, the first prize won by Agni House followed by Terra at second place and El Maa at third. In the last event, rewriting classic fairy tales with a modern twist, Aether House earned first position, El Maa stood second and Terra gained third position.Overall, the main purpose of the event was to amalgamate languages, art and creativity to develop critical thinking skill and provide (CAS) service regarding burning social issues to the school community.  Read More
May 26, 2022 Endangered Species Day Endangered Species Day is observed every year on the third Friday in May, to spread awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation and endangered species rehabilitation. The members of the Quizzing Club of classes 7 & 8 conducted an awareness campaign and planned a quiz activity for grades 5 – 8 on the 20th of May. Students were involved in various activities, right from collecting information about the endangered species, making a PowerPoint presentation, decorating the softboards, writing slogans to assisting the mentors in putting together an interactive quiz. The students took the lead and conducted the presentation and quiz across middle school. The varied types of questions asked triggered the curious young minds and made it a fun and learning event for all. There was no dearth of enthusiasm amongst the students of the quizzing club to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our wildlife. Read More
May 26, 2022 Shiladhar 2022 The fifth edition of “Shiladhar”, the much awaited Annual Literary Inter House Recitation Competition organized by the Hindi Department took place on 18th May 2022. The students of Grades 9, 10, 12 put up a spectacular show. Different literary genres like ‘Hasya Kavita,’ ‘Mukt Kavita,’ and ‘Kahani Vachhaan’ were delved into.It was an engaging event that left the audience questioning and pondering over the powerful points put across in all the speeches. This platform truly served as a place where students were able to freely voice their opinions and express their views in the form of beautiful literary pieces. The conviction with which the pieces were spoken and delivered was heartwarming. The awards were then announced by the prestigious judges consisting of- Ms. Rita Srivastava, Ms. Maadhvi Bali and Ms. Poonam Gangwal The winners in each category are:In Class 9 Aarav Gupta secured the 1st position, Sohail Ahmed secured the second position.In Class 10 Ashraj Singh secured the 1st position, Rubab Khatra secured the second position.In Class 12 Vijyant Chaudhary and Kudrat Khosla secured the 1st position, Tanya Gupta secured the second position.In conclusion, the event was extremely well organised and symbolised the unity of the student body which was successful in holding this flawless event.All the presenters and participants did a brilliant job, delivering their lines with clarity and conviction. Some words plucked at our heart strings; some brought a lump to the throat while others made us laugh at life’s absurdities. May 26, 2022 IC3 Regional Forum On May 14, 2022, the Strawberry Fields High School hosted the third IC3 Regional Forum, a series of one-day events in high schools across India, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The goal of these Forums is to bring together school leaders, college counselors and teachers, with university representatives to discuss counseling and admissions practices to ensure as seamless a transition as possible, for the students stepping out from the cloistered existence within their schools into the world of advanced tertiary education. This Forum, attended by 125+ participants, presented an opportunity for all stakeholders to facilitate the forward journey of their students, so that they may be better prepared and ready to make the best use of their capabilities as they chart out the most suitable course to follow.The Forum began with a performance by the performance by the supremely talented music team of Strawberry Fields High School - Mr. David Lal, Mr Prateik Lal, Ms Nasrin Hajra, Ms Anuja Sharma, Ms Rakhi Sharma, Ms Anjali Kaur and Mr Subhasish Hajra, who were led by our Director and Head of School, Mr. Atul Khanna. They enthralled the audience with a prayer to the Almighty asking for His blessings, protection and favour. The prayer was a combination of the popular hymn "Abide with me" and the devotional song "Teri Hai Zameen," and was presented in the form of a fusion of two languages and styles.The Keynote speaker at the Forum was Dr. Rudra Pratap, Founding Vice Chancellor of Plaksha University. He was until recently, the Deputy Director of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Founding Chairperson of the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) and a Professor in the Centre, as well as of Mechanical Engineering at IISc, Bangalore. Through his address, Dr. Pratap shared the need for the current education system to allow for interdisciplinary and experimental thought and provided inspiration to schools to allow students to explore multi-faceted interests while solving community-identified problems.The next session of the event was conducted by Mr. Ganesh Kohli, Chairperson of the IC3 Conference, who deconstructed the structure of a robust college and career counselling laboratory at schools. He was later joined by Mr. Sanjay Padode, the Founding President of Vijaybhoomi University, who elaborated on “The Curious Case of the Right Brain – Exploring Careers Through Multiple Intelligences”. Post-lunch, Ms. Nisha Kaul, Vice Principal, Strawberry Fields High School, moderated a session on the “Interplay of Non-academic Factors on College and Career Counselling” with Ms. Shalini Sharma, Head of the Centre of Wellbeing at Plaksha University, Ms. Neha Arora, Higher Ed Guidance Counsellor & Career Advisor, & International Exams Coordinator at St Kabir Public School, and Ms. Guneet Swani, a parent at Strawberry Fields and an entrepreneur, as panellists. The last session of the day was also a panel discussion on “How to Choose an International Study Destination?” moderated by Mr. Vir Anand with Ms. Priya Gidwani, Recruitment Advisor at the University of Essex, and Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, Sr. Recruitment Adviser India, Schools Engagement, The University of Sydney, Australia, as panellists.With two networking breaks, the unique day-long conference offered plenty of opportunities for meaningful interactions among participants, paving the way for enriching collaborations in the future. May 26, 2022 Cryptic Quiz 3.0 The last day before the Summer Break, 21 May, saw some of the talented brains of high school compete with each other in their knowledge of Computer Science and Technology. Organised by students of Grade 12 - Aadit Bansal, Bani Waraich and Kashika Mahajan - Cryptic 3.0 witnessed the participation of over 75 students in the preliminary round, of which the 4 top scorers were selected from each grade.The selected students formed four teams - Multiverse Masterminds (Mehak Mehra, Arnav Paul, Ravneet Kaur), Geek 911 (Arshnoor Bhutani, Aarit Sharma, Dev Gaurav Ghai), Team Poggers (Ahan Jain, Navraj Singh Gill, Akshadha Bhutani) and Key Bored (Aaditya Sharma, Namish Kaura, Soumyaa Sud).The Newton Hall was charged with excitement and exuberance was evidenced among the contestants and audience alike, as the four teams competed in the Final. In the first round - The Point Grabber Round - a series of questions were posed to each team spanning a variety of topics.The next round was Pictionary, in which each participant was to draw out a word for his/her teammates to guess. The audience was so excited in this round that they started giving out answers!Following the second round was the Jeopardy Round, specifically designed for the audience. This further increased the enthusiasm of the students as each of them was eager to answer and win gifts.The last round was the fun-filled Rat Race. In this, each member of the team had to go through three stations. The first station required the team member to solve logical questions, the second station consisted of a word search and the last station was a jigsaw puzzle. The round saw the team members put their problem-solving skills to test and complete all three stations in the least time.Team Poggers emerged victorious, followed by Key Bored in second position, and Geek 911 and Multiverse Masterminds tied for third position.Kudos to the participants and organisers for a successful event. May 26, 2022 SFHS College Fair 2022 – May 13, 2022 Students of Grades 9, 10 and 12, including the IBDP, engaged in a highly enriching interaction with 58+ universities from India, US, Europe, Canada, Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. This was the first time after two covid-ridden years that the school has been able to host universities of national and international prominence. Although the school had offered students access to several virtual university fairs over the past two years, the physical presence of universities on campus made this interaction even more special, offering students the unique opportunity to garner personal insights into the college application process.
