December 30, 2021 SFHS INTER-HOUSE MATCHES – 2021 Nelson Mandela once said, “Sport has the power to change the world, it has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand.”In the wintry chill, the Inter-House Sports matches served like a warm beam of sunshine, filling all of us with joy, unity, enthusiasm, and spirit. The event began with the oath-taking ceremony, by all 4 houses – Agni, Terra, Aether and El maa.The House Captains initiated the draw – resulting in Agni pitted against Terra House and Aether against El maa House, for Day 1.Soon the Basketball Court, Tennis Court and the Football Field thundered with exhilarating chants of slogans and cheers. Agni and Aether House bagged the ball, setting the ambition high for Day 2 and Terra and El maa House set out for the third place.Red, Green, Yellow and Blue shone bright with gusto as Day 2 marked gamesmanship to its essence. Music in the air, excitement on our faces, zest in all the players – the competitions set out with vigour and house spirit. As the sun slowly peeped through the cloudy shadows, it was time to announce the results of the year’s overall sporting performance of the 4 houses.El maa secured the second runners-up position, Agni bagged the first runners-up and Aether finished first.Following House photographs, the event came to an end amidst cheers. The Principal, Ms. Sekhon addressed all the players and congratulated them for the unmatched ethos, jubilance, and unity. And with that, the school happily broke off for the Winter Vacations. December 27, 2021 Fireside Chat with Vivek Sandhu A fireside chat was organised on 23 December for the students of Grade 10, 11 and IBDP with Vivek Sandhu a candidate at MIT Sloan. This could not not have been more timely as the students have started the process of their college selections. Vivek has graduated from Georgia Tech University and is currently an MBA candidate at MIT Sloan. He shared valuable inputs from his own journey as an Ib student to MIT. Advising students that college should always be a means to an end and not the end and also how selections should be based on the holistic profile of the college and not only the ranking in the field.This event was hosted by Mannat Kaur(IBDP Year 1) and Kashika Mahajan(11 ISC). The session ended with his advise on how important it is for students to take every opportunity provided to them, and utilize this time to formulate their plans.This session would have definitely made the students more cognizant about the importance of having goals in their life. December 24, 2021 Christmas Bake Sale Fundraiser by the Cookery Club With the onset of the Christmas festivities at Strawberry Fields High School, the ‘Ramsey it Up!’ Cookery Club of the High School organised a fundraising event. The bake sale that took place on 22 December 2021, led by Jasmine Lobana and Bisr Jauhar of Grade 11, encompassed an assortment of baked goods to offer including doughnuts, cupcakes, gingerbread cookies, cake pops, popcorn, brownies, and cheese straws. They were also assisted by Dishita Singh, Mehak Mehra, Mehakpreet, Christine Bhathal, Vernika, Kudrat, Tania Shahi and Arshnoor Bhutani also of Grade 11. The fundraiser was successful in raising an encouraging amount, all of which is being donated to the Aruna Asaf Ali Memorial Trust Foundation, which aids in the upliftment of the underprivileged and empowering women. The junior school team has been swept up in the festivities and has transformed the entire school into a winter wonderland, with snowflake cutouts fluttering in the chilly breeze, and candy canes, holly, and Christmas trees dotting the corridors, it's all very magical and marvellous!

December 24, 2021 SFHS Students Rock at the Geofest
Students from SFHS participated in the 16th international annual Geofest in the Geo Acapella Rhapsody competition. They wrote, composed and performed their song on the topic, “Song of the Earth, for the people, by the people”. The team consisted of Kushal Vir Singh Sindhu of grade 9, Ibadat Bedi and Vidula Kapur of grade 10, Aafreen Puri of grade 11 and Swajeevan Singh of grade 12. They were awarded with a special mention prize in the senior category. It was a challenging but a rewarding and learning experience for them.

December 24, 2021 International Day of Persons with Disabilities Campaign by Grades 9 and 11 The Social Sciences Department at High School conducted a sensitization drive on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.As part of this drive, an inter-section soft board competition was organised, wherein each section of Classes 9 &11 created a display to showcase the assigned themes which are as follows:Class 9: Accessibility to physical environment for persons with disabilitiesClass 11: Educational and social inclusion of persons with disabilities.The winners were selected by the judges on the basis of creativity, the relevance of content, and an explanation of their display. The winning sections were Class 11 C and Class 9 B. As a culmination of the campaign, the best elements from each display were combined and put up for a showcase for the entire school. Read More
December 23, 2021 National Mathematics Day National Mathematics Day is celebrated on 22 December each year to honour mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan who was born on this date in 1887. High School students began the weeklong celebration by watching the movie, “The Man who knew Infinity”, based on the biography of the great mathematician’s life and journey towards establishing his famed, mathematical theories. The celebration culminated on December 22, with a quiz, based on Srinivasa Ramanujan's biography. Brain teasers, and questions that tested reasoning/creative thinking skills, we're posed by grade 11 students to their fellow students, across all classes of High School. The celebration allowed students to know more about the world renowned, Indian Mathematician and his amazing work. Read More
December 23, 2021 GLOBAL INNOVATION CHALLENGE High School students, Mehak Mehra, Kashika Mahajan and Arshnoor Bhutani garnered laurels for Strawberry Fields High School by securing the top three position in the Johnson and Johnson GLOBAL INNOVATION CHALLENGE held on 13th December 2021. They presented their entry “Livelderly”, an 'application' designed to cater to the needs of the elderly in society. The global challenge included, middle and high school students from across the globe competing across three regions-1Americas, North America (NA) and Latin America2) Europe, Middle East and North Africa, and3)  Asia Pacific.Activities included virtual events and the students presented innovative and potentially viable solutions by addressing current community related problems and challenges. Students collaborated virtually, working in teams of two-four participants, to prepare and present innovative solutions to the proposed Global Challenge. Volunteers from Johnson & Johnson were the adjudicators and they marked out the 'best solution' from each region. The decisive round of judging, was the voting by Johnson and Johnson employees.Mehak Mehra, Kashika Mahajan and Arshnoor Bhutani were winners all the way, being admired and acknowledged by the J&J group for their innovative idea and work. December 23, 2021 Heritage Club Fest – Goa Liberation Day The heritage club put up an exhibition cum fair to commemorate Goa’s liberation — “Govem Liberdade.” It was open to students from grade 4 to 8.The exhibition unravelled the history of Goa's liberation through pictures, illustrations of the Portuguese rule in Goa. The students moved around the exhibition, learning about Goa’s freedom struggle — Goa was liberated on 19th December 1961,14 years after India gained independence. It was recognized as an independent state in 1987. It was under Portuguese rule for 450 years ( 1510 - 1961 ) and was the capital of the entire Portuguese Empire east of the Cape of Good Hope. Goa, the small coastal area, was conquered by Afonso de Albuquerque ( 1453 - 1515 ) and became an important trade hub.The fair had various attractions for all. There were a few games — ping pong toss, guess the weight, stack the cups which drew the attention of the crowd. There was also a tattoo making stall that was a major source of interest for the visitors. The arts and craft stall was an instant hit among the junior grades. The teachers also took part in the activities and enjoyed the fair as much as the children.There was a small Goan dance performance by a few grade 8 students. There was a lot of enthusiasm in the air thanks to the energetic performance by the girls and they were cheered on by the  onlookers.  The  students  were  encouraged  to  dance  along, and the air was filled with Goan fervour.
