January 12, 2023 Class KG field trip to Sukhna Lake The field trip to the Sukhna lake on December 20, 2022 was an opportunity for young learners to build upon their previous understanding of migratory birds through hands-on exploration. The learners were able to observe and appreciate the exotic migratory birds in their natural habitat, providing a unique and valuable learning experience. The trip was also aimed at encouraging a spirit of scientific inquiry and exploration, as well as fostering personal development through teamwork, and social interactions. Taking in the sights and sounds of nature and working together, the learners were able to deepen their knowledge of migratory birds and the natural world around them. Read More
December 30, 2022 CHRISTMAS GIFTS DISTRIBUTION – SOCIAL WELFARE AND COMMUNITY SERVICE DEPARTMENT In the spirit of Christmas, the Junior School students at Strawberry Fields High School made and packed more than 200 gifts to be distributed among the underprivileged to spread love and warmth this festive season. The gifts included stationary items, clothes and consumable goodies. With lessons on kindness and sharing, this endeavour marked a perfect close to retreat into the Winter holiday season for children of grades KG to 4. The Social Welfare and Community Service Department distributed these gifts to the underprivileged after collecting them from students of Junior School. The social drive, headed by Twishaa Sehgal (Captain) coordinated the facilitation and distribution of gifts with the teachers of Junior School. The team comprising : Hazel Garg, Aarush Khanna, Harvir Swani and Raisa Vaidya was successful in seeing through this endeavour. Hazel (Vice-Captain) along with Harvir and Raisa (Prefects) distributed gifts to the children of the labourers at the new school site at New Chandigarh and various slum areas in Panchkula. All of this would not have been possible without Mr. Paul (Social Welfare Coordinator). We would like to thank him for his assistance and support! We hereby, also acknowledge the Social Care Association for collaborating with us and helping us distribute the gifts in over 4 slum areas in Panchkula! Read More
December 27, 2022 Assembly by Class 11C – The Da Vinci group Class 11C – The Da Vinci group conducted the Assembly on the 21st of December. With Christmas round the corner, the class took us back in time to the year 1914 to one of the most extraordinary incidents of all military history to re-enact the famous Truce between English and German forces on the Western Front during World War 1 on Christmas Eve. They presented a Reader’s Theatre adaptation of ‘The Christmas Truce’. The poignant story was narrated in the form of letters written to loved ones about the incident, interspersed with the most haunting singing of carols in English, German and Latin by the choir. The scenes were brought to life through visuals and enactment of the incident with the students playing the part of soldiers in the battlefield. The true meaning of Christmas and how it teaches us humanity and peace was seamlessly woven in the narrative, leaving an indelible mark on the young audience. Read More
December 27, 2022 ALUMNI HOMECOMING Friday, 23 December 2022, saw several alumni visit their alma mater in the true festive spirit, to take part in the Sports Day celebrations. They participated with vim and vigor in the football and basketball matches that were specially arranged for the day. Here they were able to relive their school days, spent on the basketball courts and the school’s playing fields. Furthermore, the Sports Day served as a means for former students to reunite with their educators. The day witnessed emotional moments, both on and off the field, and with promises to congregate again in 2023, came to an end. Read More
November 14, 2022 Children’s Day celebration – Junior School “The best way to make children good is to make them happy.” — Oscar Wilde, author and poet. Today, junior school educators and children celebrated Children's Day with vigour and passion as a day to commemorate childhood and honour the purity and innocence of our young children. The educators held a special assembly to make the day unforgettable for the students. The highlight of the show was the legendary historical play "Tenali Rama," enacted by the Junior School teachers followed by a lively dance performance by them and fun filled games that were extremely enjoyable. The students took part in the day’s events with a lot of fervour and excitement. They felt incredibly happy, valued, and loved. Read More
November 9, 2022 Master at her Game! Innayat Thakur, a student of class VIII, continues to bring laurels to our school by clinching Bronze Medal (Rank 3) in Sports Pistol-NR 25m, Junior Women Individual Category at the 31st All India G.V. Mavalankar Shooting Championship held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from 16th October till 22nd October 2022. November 4, 2022 VISIT TO AN OLD AGE HOME The students of Class XII-A visited Kartar Aasra, an Old Age Home in Sector 1, Chandigarh on 20.10.2022. They interacted enthusiastically with the residents and had a fulfilling experience wherein they did not just go back home with memories, but also several valuable lessons. The students were split into two groups. The first group met Mr. Rajendra Lal who had previously worked in the telecommunications sector. He narrated fascinating stories about his life and was indeed a storehouse of knowledge. Mr. Lal was well-versed in current affairs and was also fond of 'conspiracy theories' which delighted the students. The other group was introduced to Mr. Ahluwalia, who had worked at a high position with The Coca Cola Company. He was very sentimental about his children and proudly recounted memories of them. He mentioned how his son was the CEO of Discovery Channel and how his daughter had studied in Australia before returning to India. He had a book of ghazals, which he was passionate about, and he melodiously sang one of them for everyone. The students were deeply moved by their experience and collectively decided to visit again soon. They will surely cherish and carry these memories with them for a long time. Read More
November 4, 2022 National Chemistry Day Strawberry Fields High school has always believed in equipping students with the necessary skills to build future leaders and innovators. With the advancement in science and technology, it is imperative to furnish them with knowledge but in such a manner that they take interest and participate enthusiastically in all lessons. To nurture their scientific skills, various events/programs are conducted across the year. The High School at SFHS celebrated National Chemistry Day on 19th October. They presented a very informative yet fun filled presentation on “Chemistry is everywhere” to their peers and juniors in middle school. The presentation was enlightening as the students explained how Chemistry plays an important role in their daily lives. They informed the students how from toys, candies, kitchen, health and wellbeing, space this branch of science is the key component. To enhance student’s engagement in the class the senior students also demonstrated an experiment. They explained them the process of making sugar candy at home and the science behind the same.
