January 25, 2021 From the Director …. On behalf of all of us at the Durga Das Foundation and Strawberry Fields, wishing each one of you a happy Republic Day. It is a momentous feeling to live in a free country where we can exercise our free will, exercise our choices, form opinions and follow our path. Let us take a moment to thank all those who laid down their lives to give us a free country. It maybe a good idea to watch the live parade that is beamed from Rajpath on the morning of the 26th. In the days prior to mobile phones and multi-channel television, we would love to snuggle up in our quilts, park ourselves in front of our black and white television sets and feel a patriotic surge as we watched the march past and the different state "jhankis". These were a window to our world, and the rest of the country. Even today, you will see just how diverse and culturally rich we are. Let’s celebrate this and more. Best wishes,Atul Khanna Read More
December 16, 2020 Inter House Extempore Competition 2020 Swami Vivekananda said...Most of my speeches are extempore...Take up one idea ... Think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Extempore is the art of public speaking that is carried out without preparation or forethought. It puts to test one’s ability to think on the spot and also their spontaneity. Effective extempore speaking always has the purpose of the presentation and the impact on the audience at its heart. The most integral part of the speech is that it should be long enough to cover the subject and short enough to create the interest amongst the audience. Surmounting the complexity of a virtual platform, the students of classes 5 and 6 successfully managed to deliver a spectacular performance in this competition organized on 11th December 2020. Their feisty and perfect elocution was praiseworthy. The self-assurance and conviction showcased by the students on this digital platform exemplified their ability to triumph over all the challenges amid this pandemic. The show that witnessed stiff competition was judged by a panel of eminent faculty members of the school. The winners of the event were:Class 5:1st position - Krishiv Gupta of El Maa House2nd position - Arjun Singh Dhatt of Aether House3rd position - Ayanna Jain of Agni house Class 6:1st position –  Siddhraj Singh Bajwa of El Maa HouseArjun Bedi of El Maa House2nd position – Nirvan Goyal of Aether HouseAasma of Agni House3rd position – Bani Sethi of Aether House Every moment of our life is unscripted like an extempore competition. Perhaps that is the beauty of it. This competition was one such platform which assisted the students not only in thinking on their own but also in voicing their creative ideas with precision and in a crisp manner. They got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. Read More
